THE TEN TABLETS
UPON THE WALLS OF THIS PORCH
WERE PLACED HERE IN NOVEMBER 1897
BY THE LONDON SOCIETY
FOR PROMOTING CHRISTIANITY AMONGST THE JEWS
IN ORDER THAT THE MEMORY OF
TEN FAITHFUL AND DEVOTED SERVANTS OF GOD
MIGHT BE PERPETUATED.
THE TABLETS WERE ORIGINALLY,
AND UNTIL IT PASSED OUT OF THE HANDS OF THE SOCIETY’S HANDS IN 1897,
IN THE EPISCOPAL JEWS’ CHAPEL,
PALESTINE PLACE, BETHNAL GREEN.
THE ENTIRE COST
OF REMOVAL AND RE-ERECTION
OF THE TABLETS, AS WELL AS THAT OF THE DECORATION
OF THIS PORCH, WAS BORNE BY THE SOCIETY.
